Cookie Policy

This policy explains how calmmen.id uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit the site. It should be read together with the Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly. If you have questions after reading it, our details are at the bottom of this page.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information between pages, or between separate visits — for example, whether you have already seen a notice, or which language option you picked last time. A cookie holds a short piece of text; the site that set it reads that text back the next time you arrive.

Because a cookie is only a text file, it is not a program. It cannot run on its own, cannot open or read other files on your device, and cannot scan your folders or contacts. It also cannot install anything. Its reach is limited to the browser that stored it and the site that placed it.

Similar technologies work in the same spirit: small identifiers kept in your browser or on your device that let a site recognise a returning visit. Where this policy says cookies, the same rules apply to those technologies.

Nothing on calmmen.id is stored in a cookie beyond short technical values and aggregate visit counts.

How we use them

How we use cookies

We use cookies to keep the site working correctly and to collect aggregate information about how pages are used. That second part is what tells us which guides are read all the way through, which sections people skim past, and where navigation breaks down. If a link is sending people somewhere they did not expect, the aggregate numbers are usually how we spot it.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not hand cookie data to advertising networks. Nothing about your reading habits on calmmen.id is packaged and sold. The information stays in aggregate form: counted visits to a page, not a named record of one person's session.

Keeping pages stable

Remembering session state so a form or a preference carries over between pages without being retyped.

Reading the site back

Counting page views in aggregate to see which guides earn attention and which need rewriting.

Types of cookies on this site

There are two kinds in use here, and their jobs are quite different. Both are described below so you can decide how to treat them in your browser settings.

Strictly necessary cookies

These support core functions, such as submitting a contact form correctly and keeping the site secure while you browse. They do not follow you to other websites, and they are not used to build a profile. Without them, some parts of the site stop behaving the way they should.

Analytics cookies

These record aggregate usage patterns — how many visits a page receives, roughly how long readers stay, and whether they move on to another guide. Individual visitors are not identified. The counts tell us which topics deserve more depth and where readers lose the thread.

Third-party analytics

If we use an outside service to measure traffic, that provider sets its own cookies and follows its own practices. Those cookies sit under the provider's policy, not ours. We only work with services whose practices we have reviewed, and we keep the range of what they can collect narrow.

You can read our full Privacy Policy for the wider picture on personal data, and how requests about your information are handled.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings menu. You can also set the browser to notify you each time a cookie is set, so you decide case by case. Where to find these controls depends on your browser; the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all cover them.

For anything that affects calmmen.id directly, ask your browser how it is storing cookies for this site, or send us your question and we will explain what the site needs to work.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the contact form behaves — it can lose what you typed between fields, or refuse to submit at all. Blocking analytics cookies changes nothing about how the site looks or functions.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page. We keep the wording of each section clear, and the date-relevant changes stay visible rather than hidden in the middle of reworded text. If a change affects how cookies behave on the site, we say so here.

Questions about cookies can be sent to [email protected], or asked by phone at +62 21 2555 1909. Our phone lines are staffed Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00.

If your question is about the site's writing or a topic you would like covered, the Contact page reaches the editorial team directly.
